Disclaimer: I talk to Rachel on IM. I read her blog. We’re online friends I guess you could say. This gives me all the reason to say this is a great CD, a great album. Maybe even say, “Lush melodies coupled with skilled songwriting” or something to that effect.
But honestly I’m not a huge fan of acoustic / singer / songwriter. I can’t compare this work to others in the same genre. I’m rather unqualified to review this album.
All I can say is the song, Distance is Too Far (featured in The Buzzgrinder Podcast, episode #6), makes me want to cry. A good album makes me smile (Converge, bludge), and a good song should stir something. And it’s different for everyone, but hey… this is me. My review. The Ashling won’t be leaving my harddrive for a long time, that’s all I know.
